    Description

1863 civil war quartermaster requisition form for a "rubber doormat" for a corps headquarters, signed a few times by Lt. Col.. And 8th corps quartermaster Alexander Bliss (1827-1896).  Apparently the request caused quite a bit of consternation, given the heavy back and forth on the back side of hte document.  Worth further research and study. The manuscript copy of the Gettysburg Address in the Lincoln bedroom of the white house the "Bliss copy"; it was obtained by Bliss through his stepfather (historian George Bancroft) for use in a book of manuscripts.   Neat document!
