    Description

This is a vintage, humorous pinback/pin button, "OH WHAT I'D DO FOR A CHICKEN LIKE YOU"
produced by Hassan cigarettes, a popular brand in the early 1900's. These pinbacks/pin buttons were produced around 1910 and came free with the cigarettes. The buttons are lithographed images with a celluloid cover. Most have the paper insert from the particular brands of cigarette inside the pin's back. These buttons feature the art of the popular newspapers cartoonists, the beginning of the America's comics.  This artwork was made by Thomas Aloysius Dorgan (April 29, 1877 – May 2, 1929) known as Tad Dorgan, an American cartoonist who signed his drawings as TAD.  The button measures 7/8" in diameter and is in color with a flesh-colored face and red/black plaid pants.  The button h
as some discoloration on the front of the pinback/pin button and some discoloration around the rim on the back.  This is certainly a novel item to wear as a tie tack or lapel pin.
