In 1860, Giuseppe Peruzzi and wife, Giulia, opened a silversmith shop in Florence, Italy, specializing in handcrafted items.
Giuseppe’s brothers joined the business and Fratelli (brothers) Peruzzi was born. It became a huge success over the many decades and the business has been handed down through the generations, each honoring the uncompromising traditions of its founders. It is one of the oldest shops in Florence and still located on the historical Ponte Vecchio. Peruzzi jewelry is handmade and the early pieces are done in the Italian Renaissance style. In 1910, an American branch, Fratelli Peruzzi Silversmiths, was opened in Boston, but closed its doors in 1973 and moved back to Italy. Fratelli Peruzzi thrives to this day and its handmade items are sold worldwide. Pieces marked simply 'Peruzzi 800 Silver/Sterling Florence/Italy' are those made prior to 5 Feb 1934 when a new Law required uniformity in the shape of silversmith's marks.
